The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), is a Medicaid sponsored program that allows for patients to hire their own personal caregivers. Patients or their care managers interview, hire, train, and terminate caregivers of their own choosing and Medicaid ensures they are paid for their time.
As such, CDPAP allows for family caregivers to get paid for their time caring for loved ones.
CDPAPdirect is a free service to help patients and caregivers get set up with CDPAP. We believe CDPAP to be a much smarter and safer solution when it comes to home care and we’re here to help you or your loved ones get enrolled.
We work in partnership with home care agencies throughout New York State to facilitate in payroll of the hired caregiver.
HOW DO I
Whether you meet the eligibility requirements for CDPAP or not, we can help you get started. Once you meet the requirements and have filled out the necessary forms, a nurse will visit the patients home to assess a care plan with alloted hours of care provided.
The chosen caregiver enrolls as a W-2 employee through a home care agency. Then your own personalized home care plan, provided by someone chosen by the patient can begin.

To enroll in CDPAP, you’ll need to fill out all the necessary forms and have a nurse visit your home for a care assessment. Once you have identified a care plan, you can select a caregiver of your choosing. If you don’t know anyone available to work as your caregiver, our staff here at CDPAPdirect can help you find someone trustworthy and competent.
